Concert of baroque music dedicated to the National Day of Luxembourg

In the evening of June 23, 2008, on the occasion of the National Day of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and under the High Patronage of the Embassy of Luxembourg to Romania, an exceptional Concert of baroque music took place at the Gallery "Dialogue" of Bucharest Second District Mayorship. The concert, performed by the young, but already prestigious musical group “L'Entretien de Muses”, was organised by Paneuropa Foundation in close cooperation with Bucharest Second District Mayorship (musical chronicle by dr. Tanta Diaconescu, musicologist).

As a Press Communique of Bucharest Second District Mayorship reveals, "for the first time the headquarters of a mayorship of Bucharest hosted a cultural event of exceptionally high refinement", where the people of Bucharest were invited to get acquainted with the music composed by G. F. Haendel, Thomas Morley, John Dowland, Peter Philips and Jean Philippe Rameau "in an unusual performance".

The numerous audience - that included Mr. Virgil Stefan Nitulescu, secretary general of the Ministry of Culture and Cults and Mr. Pierre Back, president of the Friendship Association Luxembourg-Romania -, praised by long lasting applauses the outstanding artistic interpretation given to famous pieces of baroque music by the young sopranos Daniela Caraman and Raluca Enea, violinist Mircea Ionescu, at baroque violin and, "last but not least", by Irina Nãstase, at clavecin. Let's express our warmest congratulations and gratitude to the artists for their inspired selection of the pieces performed and for their masterly interpretation, which subjugated the audience and kept it as a loyal hostage till the end of the performance.

Opening the manifestation, the president of Paneuropa Foundation presented the significance of the National Day of the Grand-Duchy - the official celebration of His Royal Highness the Grand-Duc of Luxembourg -, and also some milestones of the history of Luxembourg, focusing on the modern and contemporary development , when Luxembourg asserted itself as a strong industrial site, having the siderurgical industry as its main driving force and also as a first ranking international financial center and an influential actor on the European arena (a founding member of the European community, with the vocation of consensual construction during important and highly sensitive moments of the European integration process). At the same time, Luxembourg was one of the fervent supporters of Romania's European integration, which found its ultimate expression in the signing in Luxembourg, under the Luxembourgish Presidency of the European Union, of its Treaty of accession.

On the same occasion, the mayor of Bucharest Second District, Neculai Ontanu and his Cultural Counsellor, Ruxandra Garofeanu, were given Diplomas of Excellency, on behalf of Paneuropa Foundation, as a sign of recognition and high appraisal of their constant contribution to the promotion of arts and culture.

It is a fact of outstanding reality that mayor Neculai Ontanu is a great lover of culture and arts, and, what is more prestigious and valuable, he develops a constant and inspired activity for the benefit of Bucharest inhabitants, by putting in place artistical and cultural manifestations of high level and spiritual richness. After the concert, the Bucharest Second District Mayorship invited the participants at a cocktail, where they could taste as well Luxemburgish white and red wines, offered graciously by Paneuropa Foundation.
