Théâtre du Centaure in Luxembourg hosted on Monday evening, 21 of July 2008, a ceremony for handing over the Paneuropa Foundation Diplomas of Excellence to several Luxembourgish personalities, that were so awarded on the 23rd of June, 2008 - the National Day of Luxembourg.
The Diplomas were handed over by the President of Paneuropa Foundation to the following personalitiesi:
Monseigneur Mathias Schiltz, General Vicar of the Catholic Church of Luxembourg, for his activity dedicated to the promotion of oecumenism and for His steady support granted to the development of the relations with the Romanian Orthodox Church
Mr. Roger Weber, burgomaster of the Comune of Schengen, for promoting the friendship and cooperation between Luxembourg and Romania
Mr. Norbert Thill, professor and writer, for his longlife activity dedicated to the knowledge and dissemination of the artistic beaty, including in his capacity of "cultural ambassador" of Romania
In his allocution , the president of Paneuropa Foundation presented the history of the Diplome of Excellence, its significance as a symbolic recognition of the performance in one's own profession and in the services renderd to the society, the personalities to whom so far such Diplomas were attributed, as well as the personal merits of the present laureats which were considered when deciding such an awarding.
The Festivity was attended by numerous local and foreign guests, among them Mrs Adriana Metz-Godeanu, member of the Foundation Scientific Council of Luxembourg, as well as Mrs Angela Craciun, president of the World Mineralogy Organisation, who came from Monacco especially for this event.
At the end of the Festivity, the guests were offered a "wine of honor", from the rich assortment of Romanian wines selected and imported by Mr. Georges Lazu, owner of the company Vins Roumains of Luxembourg.
